In brief: Safe sleeping

The aap recently came out with a new policy statement about safe sleeping.
Now, in addition to always putting your baby to sleep on their back, there should be no bumpers, breast-feeding is recommended and your child should be immunized.

In brief: On back

Emerging data show higher crib death (sids) rates when infants slept on their belly.
We have seen a 40% decline in crib death since beginning back sleeping position in 1992.. Side sleeping was found as bad as front sleeping. Some rare medical conditions will require front sleeping but this will be discussed with you if it is necessary.
