If my child has asthma, how will the doctor and I help?

Prescriptions. If your child has asthma, the doctor will give you prescriptions for medicine. Your child may need one medicine. Or, she may need more than one. Be sure you understand which medicines your child should take, and how often. If you don’t understand the directions, ask the doctor or nurse.
Streamline treatment. If you are a doctor yourself, you will benefit from an independent and unbiased opinion. It is never a good idea to treat your family members. There are medicines for asthma, as well as a great deal of education on avoidance of triggers. We doctors may be in denial of many things when it comes to our family.
