I had my wrist fused a year ago from a car accident. Why does it still hurt?

In brief: Different joint?

Wrist fusions are often done for painful arthritis or a severely damaged joint.
There are actually several joints in the wrist and hand, and you may have had a partial fusion. There are complete wrist fusions as well. A joint that may not have been fused may be causing you pain. Your hardware may be also causing you pain. New xrays are a good idea and possibly your hardware may need to be removed.

Agreed. There are unfortunately alson ny conditions for which wrist fusions are the best albeit very imperfect solution.

In brief: Scar tissue

If the pain is more than expected go back to your doctor.
