In brief: Nobody knows
It could be weeks or years.
Normally, smoking causes copd, not asthma, and COPD stays with you for life.

In brief: Till free of smoke.
Smoke exposure is a known risk factor for asthma exacerbations and er visits for asthma sufferers.
Fortunately, nearly as soon as a person with asthma is no longer exposed to second hand smoke, they will not be at any greater risk of asthma exacerbations compared to the risk of another asthma sufferer who was not exposed to smoke.
