In brief: Not directly

The causes of asperger's disorder remain poorly understood, but it is not a result of abuse.
On the other hand, individuals with asperger's disorder sometimes behave in ways that frustrate others, which may increase their risk of being abused.

In brief: Causality, not but

Child abuse goes way up the more difficult the child's behavior is to control by conventional means.
Parents can become so stressed, they could make irrational decisions. Please provide any concerns to the child pediatrician or if this is a confirmed diagnosis, to the child's child psychiatrist.

In brief: Not really

Child abuse does not cause aspergers or autism.
There was a theory many years ago that the manner in which a child is "mothered" can be associated with autism. This notion has been disproved. On the other hand, i agree with my colleague who suggested that certain kids are a definite challenge to deal with behaviorally. One needs to not allow their "buttons" to be pushed.

In brief: Yes

Some asperger's kids are very hard to deal with and bring out the worst in caretakers.
Parents and others often need help learning how to deal with these children because otherwise their frustration can lead to abusive behavior.
