Kleptomania is catagorgerized as an impulse control disorder. People with this disorder get increasinly anxious before the are to steal something and the stealing relieves the anxiety.
Many feel this is related to ocd. It can be helped with cognitive behavorial therapy and frequently ssri antidepressants.
