In brief: Medical/educational

Hie effects vary-so i can't give you specific advice.
You need a team approach-a pediatrician experienced with developmental/educational areas should serve as your medical home-and guide you to various specialists like pt, ot, speech therapy, etc. Utilize early access programs, area educational agency, etc. If local doctor unsure, ask for a referal to a university center and/or developmental ped.

The initial treatment is to support the functions of the brain and to maintain the normal physiologic parameters in an intensive care setting followed by intensive rehabilitation. For the newborn, most states have programs to help with improvements in developmental milestones as early as 6 moths of age.
