And refusing an episiotomy doesn't mean you are refusing all care. There are some really good reasons to get an episiotomy though. Sometimes your baby is struggling and we need to deliver quickly. While this is rare, keep an open mind. Discuss with your doctor or make a birth plan that states you only want an episiotomy in a true emergency.
