What does it mean for liver cancer to be stage 3?

Assuming that this liver cancer is hepatocellular carcinoma, ajcc (american joint committee on cancer) stage iii refers to one of the following scenarios: multiple large tumors or tumor involving the portal/hepatic vein(s)/major branch thereof or direct invasion of adjacent organs (other than gallbladder) or tumor perforation of the liver capsule.
Different types. Multiple tumors more than 5 cm; tumor involving major branch of portal vein or hepatic vein; tumor directly invading adjacent organs (except for gallbladder); or tumor perforate the peritoneum; any of the above without lymph node involvement.
