What can I do about my orthostatic hypotension?

Stand Slowly. If you have orthostatic hypotension it can be caused by decreased blood volume or an inability of the nervous system to compensate for blood pressure changes upon standing. I would recommend making sure to drink enough fluids and when you are lying down for a long period of time, make sure to sit up and stand slowly. This slow change in position will help give your body time to adjust.
Blood pressure. You can increase the fluids and salt in your diet, wear support hose and pay attention when you are standing up to do it slowly.
