In brief: Different than adult
The type of heart disease seen in teenagers is different from that seen in adults.
Some problems are congenital (born with them) that only become apparent in the teenage years. Some common diagnoses include hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, myocarditis (viral infection), pericarditis, and marfan syndrome. There are variety of congenital metabolic disorders which are uncommon such as glycogen-storage.
