In brief: Remote in history

Long long ago patients were noted to develop swelling and shortness of breath.
It was called "hydrops" and was treated with mercurial diuretics in the past before they were found to be toxic due to murcury content giving way to the new diuretics like acetazolamide, thiazides, and loop diuretics.

In brief: CHF

CHF descriptions are quite ancient though when the physiology ie it was the heart causing the problem was deduced is hard to say.
