In brief: RF ablation

Ablations are procedures used to treat abnormal heart rhythms.
Normally, electricity in your heart flows in a very organized manner. Sometimes, there is either a abnormal focus of electrical discharge or something akin to a short circuit in your heart. Ablation procedures uses heat enegy(rf) to create a scar in your heart and break the source of abnormal electrical rhythms.

RF ablations can also scar and break the pathways through which the abnormal electrical conduction occurs.

In brief: Ablation

Ablation therapy is done to destroy tissue in the heart that is causing electrical or mechanical problems.
Usually the technique used is radiofrequency energy like microwaves but there are also other techniques. Most commonly these are performed by electrophysiology specialists.
