In brief: You mean malfunction

The aortic valve has 3 parts or leaflets.
When its called bicuspid it has only 2 leaflets. This can be congenital or aquired. If two of the cusps fuse over time is called functional bicuspid vs congenital. Either way it creates an un natural flow across the valve and over time damage the valve. Most often the valve will need replace depending on age diagnosed. Most congen bicuspids will need repla.

In brief: Mitral valve

The heart is a pump, it is made up of four chambers.
The mitral valve is located on the left side of the heart between the left atrium (left top chamber) and left ventricle (left lower). For the heart to pump effectively, the valve open to move the blood from the top chamber to the lower chamber, then it closes when the ventricle contract and send the blood to the body. Similar to a check valve.
