Benedryl can pass in small amounts in breast milk but not enought to matter. It is considered a low risk med for breast feeding, yet the sedation it brings may be a problem for some.
Some suggest benedryl will decrease milk volume, but studies have not supported this. Most physicians suggest non sedating Claritin (loratadine) or Allegra if needed. Both are otc now with a generic for claritin (loratadine).
