My doctor told me I have overactive bladder. What are my options?

Bladder retraining, anticholinergic medications, a take-off on acupuncture called posterior tibial nerve stimulation, bladder botox, pelvic floor physical therapy, electrical stimulation and a bladder pacemaker called "interstim" are all established therapies for overactive bladder. Many may be engaged concomitantly for improved results.
Many. There are a number of therapeis for overactive bladder. Proper diagnosis is critical - making sure there is no evidence of infection or other more worrisome problems. A simple ua and urine culture can assist with the elimination of these issues. Kegel exercises, bladder training, pelvic floor rehabilitation, behavoral changes and medication all can be helpful. If symptoms persist - follow up.
