For gout.. Do you know of any alternative treatment other then allupurinol to lower uric acid, for prevention of gout episodes?

In brief: Yes

Gout is caused by your body's poor handling of proteins called purines.
A diet low in purines certainly helps. Also, stay well hydrated. This helps prevent uric acid kidney stones as well as reduces joint attacks. Anecdotally, cherry juice seems to help as well. Have your uric acid checked regularly and if these methods aren't enough, take Allopurinol or uloric. Gout destroys joints.

There is actually a study being done to compare the two. You might qualify for it. See the link below. Participants get one or the other at no charge. Uloric is much more expensive than Allopurinol but it might be better tolerated or work better.

Avoid alcohol, animal fats, organ meats and shellfish.
Limit other meats to 4 oz per day. Avoid high fructose corn syrup containing drinks. Add egg whites, quinoa, soy as protein. Eat lots of fruit and veggies. Drink 3 liters per day. Tart cherry juice daily can help.
