In brief: Pull it out

Diaphragms are easily removed by hooking your finger under the edge of the diaphragm and pulling it out.

In brief: Diaphragm removal

Diaphragm removal can be made much easier by placing a foot up on a chair or toilet, then bearing down like you are having a bowel movement (valsalva maneuver) while inserting a finger without a long fingernail into the vagina and Voila! Easy as pie removal.
Please keep a short finger nail so as not to inadvertently puncture the diaphragm surface.
