Does insurance ever cover a mini tummy tuck? Under what conditions, if any, does insurance ever cover part or all of a mini tummy tuck? .

In brief: Typically not

A mini-tummy tuck is usually a cosmetic procedure.
If there is a medically necessary reason why you need the skin removed, such as infections under the skin, then panniculectomy can sometimes be covered by your insurance company.

In brief: Not Necessarily.

No, insurance companies will not cover mini tummy tuck surgery.
Generally speaking, health insurance companies will cover procedures that they deem “medically necessary", as opposed to cosmetic in nature. Best wishes.

In brief: High hopes

In 15 years of practice, I have not had a mini tummy tuck covered for any patient, ever. They're considered self-pay, cosmetic operations.

In brief: No

Insurance does not cover any tummy tuck.
The only body contouring procedure they will cover is a panniculectomy which is an operation to remove lots of skin after someone has lost usually over 100 lbs like after a gastric bypass.

In brief: It

It is less and less common for insurance companies to cover elective cosmetic surgery which a tummy tuck (mini or full) is considered.
Rarely, if a c-section scar revision for a complicated wound is part of the procedure, partial coverage may be provided but i repeat, rarely and typically only if under a medical savings plan type arrangement.
