Can radiation therapy for lung cancer also treat a pneumocystis infection?

In brief: No

Pneumocystis is an infectious organism. It can only be treated with specific antibiotics.
On the other hand, radiation can weaken the immune system and cause pneumocystis pneumonia.

Dr. Noga is not correct that radiotherapy has "weakened the immune system" to cause of facilitate pneumocystis carinii, a protozoan that came into popular parlance with the AIDS outbreask, when the OK-T4 cells bottomed out. Rekindled TB is attributed to XRT; never PCP pneumonia.

In brief: Unlikely

Pneumocytis infections usually require high-doses of antibiotics such as Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) (sometimes steroids too) -radiation is unlikely to treat pneumocystis or any infection.
