In brief: Yes
Methadone may have an affect on fetal growth, however compared to illicit drug users, fetal outcomes are improved with Methadone users.

It depends. If you were taking the medication to stay off heroin then it's the lesser of two evils. If you are using it for pain management you need to change. The withdrawal syndrome from methadone is impressive. Please consult both your OB and your pain physician for help

In brief: A bit
Methadone was thought to be safe based on studies comparing heroin using mothers to Methadone using mothers.
The Methadone group and babies did better. That doesnt mean Methadone is safe, just safer than heroin. The best choice is no opioids. But if opioids are necessary Methadone up to 20 mg per day might be ok with sufficint pre and postnatal care. Baby will need detox.
