It. It is ok for any baby over six months to have a little water. You may have a hard time getting your child to drink iced water, though since they do not usually like to drink very cold liquids. The only things that have been shown to help an infant with cough and congestion are saline drops and nasal suctioning with a bulb suction and placing a humidifier in the room while he sleeps. No cough/cold medications are safe for this age. If your child develops a fever, starts refusing to eat or drink, acts very sick or starts to have difficulty breathing, call his doctor right away.
