In brief: Sinusitis

Infection of the sinuses causes congestion, facial pain, nasal discharge, post-nasal drip, fever.
It is commonly caused by bacteria and viruses, less commonly due to fungus. Treatment is usually related to a decongestant, antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, and antibiotic (if cause is bacterial). Sinus irrigation is also helpful to rid the sinuses of thick mucous.

In brief: Sinus

Sinus infections can be very difficult to treat.
They often require two or more weeks of antibiotics. Therefore if you have not been evaluated by a doctor and given treatment, then a visit is definitely in order. In the meantime for the nasal congestion over the counter 12 hour sudafed works wonders. In addition a netty pot can be used to rinse the sinuses (sold in most pharmacies/drug stores). Also afrin nose spray can be used short term. For the headaches, tylenol, (acetaminophen) advil or Excedrin can be used. Best of luck.
