Nephrogenic di= kidney does not respond to ADH (vasopressin) (anti-diuretic hormone adult diabetes, no longer called that now called type 2 diabetes, body does not respond to Insulin and blood sugar inreases in the blood.

Diabetes (means running thru) insipidis(water) the terms together means the kidneys let water run thru, without reclaiming what you still need.
The treatment involves lots of fluid intake and meds to keep your water from running out ( producing dehydration). Adults can have this problem, but the adult diabetes you note has to do with sugar (running thru) due to ineffective Insulin & different rx.
