Waking up choking waking up choking and mouth filled with foam

Without . Without more details, it's hard to know exactly what you're referring to, but I have heard this complaint many times from patients who have acid reflux disease. It's more common when you're asleep (your stomach and throat are on the same level). Other risk factors = obesity, smoking/drinking etoh/caffeine, eating foods like tomatoes, onions, citrus, chocolate, mint, spicy foods, carbonated beverages or large meals, and finally, eating within 3 hours of going to bed. Symptoms include heartburn (obviously), throat clearing, cough, hoarseness, and sore throat.
