If my son drinks the lake water, will this cause him to have any developmental problems?

In brief: No
Not unless the water is loaded with contaminants like lead or mercury.
Highly unlikely to be an issue...

In brief: Depends on the lake
I would be more concerned about infectioius disease in this picture.
Animal waste will make it into the water as a big issue. If the lake had a content of toxic materials like mercury, i could see it causing developmental issues. But unless you have a factory upstreem fouling the lake that is unlikely. Some labs offer to test water for their mineral and heavy metal content.
