In brief: Apples and oranges

These are two separate issues.
If you are a candidate for gastric bypass surgery then you need to investigate that first. ( bmi >30-32) liposuction is to reduce fat from specific areas- not for weight loss.

Depends on where the fat is. But liposuction is good for about 10 pounds max - in terms of weight loss, if you have 100 lbs to lose, then liposuction will not work

In brief: Lipo & gastric surg

Candidates for gastric bypass are typically overweight and these are not the ideal patient for liposuction.
Patients who are best to undergo liposuction are those who are about 10 pounds overweight and can't lose that last bulge in a focal area such as the love handles, stomach or thigh. Gastric bypass/ stapling is for obesity that is generalized over the body.

In brief: Heavy or lax skin

The answer depends in whether you are defined as being obese according to bmi measurements and overall effects on your general health and well being.
Liposuction is not a weight control procedure and ideally is used to reduce localized deposits of fat.

In brief: Different procedures

Gastric bypass is for obesity to help with weight loss.
Liposuction is not a weight loss tool but should be used for contouring. If you don't change exercise and eating habits with either you will gain weight back and maybe in different places with lipo.

In brief: Apples vs. Oranges

These are 2 very different procedures and are used for very different reasons.
Gastric bypass is done in an effort to lose weight and to correct many health and medical problems associated with obesity. Liposuction is generally used as a cosmetic tool to correct contours.

In brief: Neither Better

They are different.
Liposuction is designed to remove the fat and inches ( not weight) in the subcutaneous tissue outside of the abdominal wall. It does not address the intrabdominal fat, nor does it address the overall health of the patient.Gastric bypass is designed to help you lose weight overall, both intrabdominal and extraabdominal and improve your health.
