Surgery or nothing. Hydroceles in babies usually resolve spontaneously by age-1-year unless large & tense. Can be corrected by simple surgery, if fluctuate in size in boys, like pediatric hernia surgery. Adults should should have scrotal sonogram if testicle is larger than on other side, or can not be palpated. Surgical hydrocelectomy is treatment of choice if hydrocele is large or symptomatic, or observed if small.
Hydrocele management. Hydrocele; is a fluid collection around the testicle either from the abdomen or as reaction to injury/trauma to the testicle. The management is variable but depends on size and symptoms. Variable management can range from watchful waiting to inguinal surgical repair (scrotal surgery and aspirations may or may not have similar efficacy).
