In brief: Laproscopic

Laproscopic or arthroscopic surgery on a shoulder is a commonly performed procedure for rotator cuff and impingement problems.
There is nothing wrong with more traditional open surgery, as often the same end results will be achieved. However, with larger incisions and muscle/soft tissue violation, there will likely be more initial pain and obviously a bigger scar. While many of us have gone exclusively to arthroscopic and less invasive surgery, there are still many proponents of open surgery. The rotator cuff repair itself heals at the same rate regardless of the size of the skin incision.
