What causes brain cancer? Can having a traumatic brain injury cause brain cancer? What about environmental toxins?

In brief: Unknown

Trauma has nothing to do with brain tumors, and there are not environmental toxins that correlate so far with brain cancer.
There is a controversy about whether cell phones or electromagnetic radiation can cause tumors, but truly unproven so far.

Thanks for your answer Dr. Machanic. I've followed the cell phones business since it started 25 years ago and believe it is not a risk, but a manufactured "controversy" -- with no scientifically-reasonable mechanism and a lot of numbers and opportunities for recall bias. In one big study, tumors were 10% more common on the OPPOSITE side of the brain.
