Do you have to stay in the hospital overnight after orbital fracture surgery?

In brief: Not usually
Generally, fixing an orbital fracture is a pretty quick procedure where you can go home the same day.
You should expect some swelling for a day or two, but it tends to go down pretty quickly. Pain is also quite manageable, making this a very reasonable outpatient procedure.

In brief: Depends on doctor
When i repair an orbital fracture i almost always keep patients in the hospital overnight.
The main reason is to be able to quickly take care of any problems that might occur. The biggest concern is bleeding in the eye socket after surgery and if severe this needs to be dealt with very quickly. Some patients may also need extra pain control. Outpatient is ok but i prefer overnight stay for safety.
