In brief: Depends
Depends on the what structures are being operated on and how much reconstruction needs to be done.
Extensive surgery involving the tongue, base of tongue, back of throat (oropharynx/hypopharynx) and larynx (voice box) will take longer to heal and therefore more time needed before you are back to eating solid food easily.

In brief: It depends
It really depends on the type of surgery you had.
There are large surgeries where you would need a tube in you stomach to bypass the surgical site. If the surgery did not involve the esophagus it should be quicker to get back to normal food. All decisions however would definitely be up to the surgeon who did the surgery.
