In brief: Long time, probably

These cells are frozen in a very specific way.
This probably allows them to survive for a long, long time. The first cord transplant was performed in 1988, so time will truly tell how long that is. The first cords were stored in 1993. There seems to be little difference at this point between transplants from old cords (13 years old or more) compared with fresh cords.
