I am getting a mirena IUD next week. Should i ask for xanax (alprazolam)? And how much ibuprofin should I take beforehand? I've never had kids and I am 20.

In brief: Not necessarily

Unless you have an established anxiety disorder, you shouldn't need xanax (alprazolam).
The insertion of the iud is quick; most women will feel a quick pinch when it is implanted. Some will have irritation of their cervix which can cause cramping. I would wait until after the procedure to see whether you need ibuprofen.
