Had stroke but tests all clear. Have found PFO with echo bubble study. Recommendation is to close it with procedure through groin? Any opinions ?

In brief: Foramen ovale

Since you are only 48 yo and already had a stroke in the absence of other obvious risk factors, your pfo should be treated.

In brief: Stroke and PFO

Tough question. Recent clinical research studies would say there is no benefit but i think that if no other cause for your stroke can be found, the wise thing would be to proceed with closure as these studies have had their methodologies questioned.
