In brief: Education, med, surg

First and foremost is education.
Doc/nurse/nutritionist can educate people on proper diet, exercise etc.. Second, if meds are needed to help with correcting hypothyroidism or polycystic ovarian syndrome, or diet pills can be prescribed. And third, surgery such as liposuction or better is gastric bypass surgery etc... So, plenty can be done, but only if the person wants the help. Good luck.

In brief: It does

A doctor acts as your guardrails - often times people don't make changes until their health starts to deteriorate.
Don't be that person. Your doctors knows the statistics, risk factors and can likely predict where you will end up - ask questions and be an active player in your health and decisions. Doctors are an amazing resource to guide you and advise you - but the work is all you. Ask questions.
