Oral thrush is an infection in the mouth caused by yeast, usually candida albicans, that causes cheesy-looking areas on the lining of the mouth that can be scraped off.
No ulcers. Canker sores, or aphthous ulcers, are solitary ulcers that are painful on the lining of the mouth or gum line. Often stress related, these ulcers are not caused by an infection as far as is known.
