In brief: You can try

Although no treatment is needed for teething, if your child is experiencing pain, baby tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin (with the correct dosing) will usually help most.
You can also try a chilled pacifier or teething ring. Topical anesthetics are usually not very effective.

In brief: Best?

A couple good ones.
Using very cold baby chew toys or rubbing a topical anesthetic on the affected area.

In brief: Freeze washcloths

Freeze washcloths.
Some moms choose to dip the washcloth in chamomile tea before freezing. Try out different degrees of coldness for your baby. If he/she doesn’t seem to enjoy the sensation, you can also try a damp. Experiment with different textures and thicknesses.

Try giving your baby a dose of tyelenol or ibuprofen before bed for aching gums.
