In brief: A long time
Potentially a transplanted liver can last decades, a lifetime.
Some diseases, such as hepatitis c, can recur with a vengeance. But i often tell patients that if they make it the 1st yr, their bungee cord may break, their parachute may not open, but they won't die of liver disease.

In brief: 20 years
About 70% of deceased donor liver transplant recipients are alive with functioning grafts at 5 years, and about 50% are alive at 10 years.
Cases of 20 year survival with the same have occurred.
