What is osteocalcin

Bone Protein. Osteocalcin is a type of protein found in bone and teeth. Osteocalcin is secreted by cells known as osteoblasts. Osteoblasts are the type of bone cells that make bone. Some doctors are measuring osteocalcin levels to assess osteobalstic activity.
Protein in bone. Aka bone gamma-carboxyglutamic acid-containing protein is found in bone & dentin [teeth]; it's secreted only by osteoblasts, plays role in the body's bone-building, bone mineralization, calcium ion balance & acts as hormone, causing pancreas' beta cells to release more Insulin & directing fat cells to release hormone adiponectin, which increases sensitivity to insulin.
Bone building... A protein found in the extracellular matrix of bone and dentin and involved in regulating mineralization in the bones and teeth. It is secreted by bone-building cells, called osteoblasts, and is deposited inside the bone matrix.
