Do you think getting a face lift at 50 is okay or should I just let nature take its course?

In brief: It's personal!

The decision to undergo any cosmetic procedure at any given age, is entirely personal.
Most patients elect to have surgery when they want to feel better about themselves. This often will improve self-esteem and confidence. It is truly not dependent on a specific age, especially since we all age at different rates and varying degrees.

In brief: Personal decision

Facelift can be a very safe and effective cosmetic procedure to lessen aging changes.
Typical patients range in age from late 40's to 70's+. Therefore, at 50 you are well within the range and it is certainly "okay". It is a completely personal decision to proceed and you should begin with at least one consultation with a plastic surgeon.

In brief: Facelift

A facelift rejuvenates the face by repostitioning sagging tissues and removing excessive skin.
While resurfacing procedures can tighten and improve the skin, and ultrasound procedures can tighten the underlying tissues, and injectable fillers can volumize the face, none of these procedures can accomplish what a surgical facelift does.

In brief: Preaching to the...

Choir! as a plastic surgeon with an interest in face lifts, i think it's a great idea.
We've helped many people feel better about themselves with this operation. Modern techniques can help hide the scars, and give a more natural look that maintains your individual appearance.

In brief: Either is fine, but

Why not have a facelift if it makes you look as good as you feel? If your health is good and you are willing to undergo the (slight) risks of elective surgery, as well as the cost and time off (about 2 weeks for most), a skillfully and artfully-performed facelift by an experienced abps-certified plastic surgeon is a fabulous gift to yourself.
Over-tight is neither good nor longer-lasting!

In brief: 50: A reasonable age

Fifty is a reasonable age to consider a facelift.
However, without a more detailed examination of your specific situtation, it is difficult to generalize.

In brief: It depends on you.

How do you feel when you look in the mirror. If you feel like you look on the outside then you maybe fine the way you are.
If you feel like you look older or more tired than the way you feel on the inside then you may want to consider a facelift. No one can decide that for you except yourself. Visit a facial plastic surgeon and see if this is the right procedure for you.
