In brief: Surgery or laser

Pock marks or "ice pick scars should be removed with a dermal punch and closed with a few sutures.
Shallow scars usually improve with dermabrasion. Laser treatment is often helpful as well.

In brief: Improve, not remove!

No scar removal techniques (that work) exist.
Only dermabrasion, chemical peels, or laser resurfacing techniques can successfully improve acne scarring, and none of these options can completely "eliminate" scars. Depending on the location and severity of the scars, they can often be made much better, however. Dr. Tholen.

Deep or severe acne scars can first be excised and improved prior to the other improvement options listed.
