Toenail fungus gets deeply imbedded in the nails and cannot just go away on its own; treatments include topical anti-fungals, oral medications with blood work, cold lasers for fungal nail clearing, disinfecting the shoes, sneakers, boots, wearing flip flops around the house, etc.

In brief: Nope

If it does, it's probably not a fungus.
While a fungus is the most common cause for a thick, discolored nail, it isn't the only cause. Diagnosis is made with special stains and a culture.
