In brief: This combo a concern

High triglycerides are a very common cause of low HDL cholesterol and in many cases low or normal LDL cholesterol.
This condition is often seen in patients with obesity, pre-diabetes or diabetes (insulin resistance) , and in combination with other cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension. (metabolic syndrome). We treat tg's if >500, but if <500, then target first the ldl, then non-hdl chol.

We treat the Triglycerides when >500.When less than 500 we target first LDL and then (if LDL controlled) Non-HDL cholesterol and finally Apo B.
