Is swollen hands at 22 weeks pregnant a bad sign?

Not necessarily. Swelling is a common side effect of pregnancy due to all the retained water. The swelling can induce carpal tunnel syndrome if it becomes pronounced. I would recommend keeping your hand elevated, massage of your wrists to keep the lymphatics flowing and night splints if you begin to develop symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome (numbness).
Fairly common. But it is always important to remain in close contact with your obstetrician to determine if you are at an appropriate weight.
