Do I have to wait several years to have a repeat colonoscopy, or can I get one sooner if i'm worried?

In brief: Go by guidelines

A completely normal colonoscopy result means you should wait 10 years for a repeat.
If you are a high-risk patient or if you had polyps detected than you can repeat in1-3 years.

In brief: Yes

Discuss your concerns with your doctor. If you are having new or recurrent symptoms then a repeat exam would be warranted.
Also, be sure to contact your insurance company. They may only allow an exam every three years unless your doctor is able to document the need.
