What happens if you break/fracture your ankle but the doctors don't find out until two months later?

In brief: Depends
If a hairline type or minor chip fracture is present then it can sometimes be easily missed.
However, proper treatment may have already been provided consisting of splinting or use of boot with minimal to no sequelae. If a severe fracture is missed it could require surgery to correct the improperly healed fracture. Consult your doc to discuss the fracture and any sequelae of a delayed diagnosis.

In brief: Delayed union
An ankle fracture that has been ignored for two months can lead to a non union of bone, necrosis of bone and weakening of the tibial and fibular syndesmosis supporting the ankle.
It is imperative that ankle injuries must be examined and treated. If the bones are slightly separated, a bone stimulator may be used. If there are bone fragments, they must be removed so that there can be better motion.
