In brief: Some people do ok

You have to be ready to feel something though.
You will feel the "local" because it is an injection (needle). Motivated adults and "patient" dentists make this technique work well. Then you will feel tugging, pulling, and possibly some discomfort. The advantages have to do with not getting more complex anesthesia.

In brief: Just all right

Skillfully performed local anesthesia will be just enough for this procedure.

In brief: Talk to Dentist

Most teeth extractions can be done under local anesthesia with a cooperative patient.
If there are especially impacted teeth then some sedation might be indicated. I don't even remember the procedure after a little dose of valium. If you have concerns please contact your dentist and discuss these fears with him. Good luck.
