In brief: Yes

But If you take too much it can cause increased bleeding , bruising or even stomach ulcers.
Still. Taking the recommended amount beginning 1-2 days after surgery is usually well tolerated

In brief: Yes, for mild pain.

Aspirin, like Acetaminophen (tylenol) and low-dose Ibuprofen (advil), relieves the mild pain of minor surgery.
It is not nearly as good for the moderate or severe pain expected after more serious operations, although every individual's response to pain and pain medicine is different. Aspirin can cause mildly increased bleeding which can be a problem after certain types of operations.

In brief: Tylenol/ibuprofen

I find the best combination is 1000mg tylenol (acetaminophen) and 400 mg Ibuprofen every 6 hours.
