I have a 3 year old who is constantly going and is very active almost to the point of hyperactive. Is this normal for a toddler?

In brief: Pretty common

Inquisitive & exploring activity is a common feature of a 3yo.
In fact most industrialized societies do not start formal sit down education until the age of 6y for that reason. The activity level of any kid can be much more or less than others their age & there are professionals that provide this assistance. For most, we let them run off steam until they approach school age when it would be a pbm.

In brief: Does his activity

Level cause him harm? Is he able to engage in interactive, imaginative play with peers, await his turn & carry on a conversation? Is he invited to playdates, or do his friends' moms feel his hyperactivity & impulsivity are more than they can handle? Has his pre-school teacher complained? If his behavior is disruptive, seek an evaluation by your school district's child find & behavioral therapy.
